Are you training to become a counsellor / therapist?
During my training on the Foundation Degree Arts I found that I struggled on various levels for example being back within an educational culture as a mature student having been out of education for many years. On a personal level, the theories and ideas challenged my worldview and it felt like a “Baptism of Fire”, which had an impact on my confidence and self-knowledge and lastly, making sense of what was expected of me in regards to the academic rigor, researching, reading, and presentation of written work.
The student support was great, which helped enormously but I wished I had a mentor, someone who had been through the same processes. Not a person to do the work for me or counsel me, as this would have taken a great deal away from my development, the push and pulls, the uncertainty, the angsts ‘that are necessary’ which are the nutrients and the making of the person of the therapist. I didn’t want one to one tutoring, as this is type of relationship has it norms. No, a mentor was what I was looking for someone suggesting, sign posting, someone to bounce ideas off who was able to engage me, stimulate my ideas and/or proof read what I had written and more.
For this reason I do not proclaim to offer tutoring, nor do I see myself as an academic versed in the art of how to write perfectly. But what I can offer is mentorship as stated above. I will meet where it is more comfortable for you, in your own home, a library, café or college/university in the evening or weekends. We can spend up to anything from 1 hour to 3 hours, depending on your needs.
If you think this might be something of interest to you and would like to meet for a chat before deciding on going forward please contact me. This first meeting will not cost you.
