A love lock or love padlock is a padlock which sweethearts lock to a bridge, fence, gate, or similar public fixture to symbolize their love. Typically the sweethearts' names or initials are inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away to symbolize unbreakable love. Such bridges can be found all over the world. We sometimes need to revisit and rebridge the gaps that can appear over time.
I have many years experience of working with both families and couples. In couples therapy both partners will, as the sessions develop begin to listen, communicate and hopefullly make sense of what has been going wrong in their relationship. As the therapist I will facilatate this process not taking any sides, but simply representing the relationship who is the client. It is the relationship, rather than the two individuals that essentially is the ‘client’ which, will provide the focus of our work togehter.
Together we will form a workable contract which will provide the frame and safety for all participants. It is also hoped that the contract will in some way help each partner when not in therapy to begin honouring, respecting and really listening to your other.
I will be committed to helping and working with you both make sense of what could be possibly going wrong and helping you to come to some possible way forward. This could be challenging for us all, but I believe having chosen to come for couples therapy signals to me that there is some hope that things can be resolved and the relationship is worth this commitment.
